PLEASANTON, Calif., June 22, 2004 - ACCPAC International, Inc., a Best Software company, part of The Sage Group, plc (London: SGE.L), announced today the release of a major upgrade of ACCPAC FAXserve for Microsoft Windows. FAXserve is part of the ACCPAC Messenger Series of unified messaging applications that includes fax management, voice messaging, and wireless messaging components. The new ACCPAC FAXserve 7.0 includes significant usability enhancements, improved administration features, and more cost saving options for e-mail-based fax management. For a limited time, ACCPAC is including the complete ACCPAC Messenger Series of unified messaging applications free with all ACCPAC FAXserve 7.0 orders.

ACCPAC FAXserve enables users to send and receive fax documents through their company network infrastructure rather than relying on cumbersome local fax machines. FAXserve includes such features as fax retrieval, imaging and annotation, and also gives users the option to use either fax hardware or hosted, Internet-based faxing. An e-mail integration option is available to extend the e-mail inbox to include fax.

"ACCPAC FAXserve 7.0 for Microsoft Windows gives workers message management capabilities that extend naturally from the latest Microsoft Windows, Office, and Outlook technologies so faxing is as simple as e-mail," said ACCPAC Messaging Group Vice President, Jonathan Blackwell. "Businesses of every size can save both time and hard costs by taking advantage of the growing migration towards network-based faxing."

ACCPAC FAXserve 7.0 is a major upgrade with significant new features for both network administrators and end users, enabling businesses to:

  • Send and receive faxes through Microsoft Outlook in the same manner as handling e-mail;

  • Easily integrate fax management with the newest Microsoft Office 2003 and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 systems. Conversion from previous FAXserve versions includes full migration of user settings for simple administration;

  • Integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and 2000 using the Exchange Server integration option included free for a limited time. New in version 7.0 is an automatic message store synchronization module between the FAXserve message store and the Exchange Server message store;

  • Quickly and easily manage security issues through integration with Microsoft Active Directory. Enhanced security ensures privacy for recipients and senders, important for many organizations including those needing to comply with new government regulations such as HIPAA guidelines;

  • Simplify fax administration tasks with new set up wizards. In addition, the new FAXserve interface has been designed to seamlessly integrate as a natural extension of the Windows operating system and Outlook messaging system for a minimized learning curve;

  • Optionally manage faxing through the ACCPAC Internet Hosted Faxing Service to create a virtual faxing environment. Customers now have the choice of managing fax delivery through dedicated fax lines and supporting hardware such as fax/modem cards in the network, or eliminating these items and related costs by using fax-over-internet (FoIP) technologies, and;

  • Includes integration modules for ACCPAC Advantage Series and ACCPAC Pro Series accounting solutions.

Customers who order ACCPAC FAXserve 7.0 for Windows before July 31, 2004 will also receive ACCPAC VOICEserve, a business call routing and voice messaging system, ACCPAC MOBILEserve, a wireless message delivery system, and the FAXserve Microsoft Exchange Server Integration Option. This complete ACCPAC Messenger Series of products enables businesses to use their existing computer network infrastructure to create a low cost and productivity enhancing communications system. With the ACCPAC Messenger Series:

  • Businesses can set up a low cost voice mail management system using the company’s existing network infrastructure to direct calls to each employee’s inbox;

  • Employees can screen calls, broadcast a call simultaneously to multiple telephone numbers, and listen to voicemail either through the telephone or via their desktop or laptop computer using a unified inbox for voice, fax, and e-mail messages;

  • Employees can easily archive and re-visit voice messages and faxes because they are stored electronically as attached audio and image files in the unified inbox, and;

  • Employees can receive automated, wireless notification that a fax or voicemail has been received.

"Faxes continue to be an important element of business and ACCPAC has found the technology keys to ensuring fax handling is simpler, more cost-efficient, and more private that traditional paper-based approaches," said Robert Ridenour, Director of Technology with Technical Accounting Solutions, Inc, a provider of communications and accounting solutions in Laurel, MD. "The addition of voice mail management and wireless messaging takes the ACCPAC approach an important step further, providing businesses with a powerful unified messaging solution that’s very affordable."
